Getting to the University of Maryland
Air Travel
The University is served by three major airports. All have transportation to the College Park area. Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) provides regular service to the College Park area or a convenient drive by car. The BWI Express Metro bus service carries passengers to the Greenbelt Metro Station, only one stop from College Park-U of Maryland.
Reagan National Airport is not only an easy car ride from College Park, it is also located right on the Metrorail line. Passengers can take public transportation directly to College Park-U of Maryland.
The University of Maryland offers a free shuttle bus from the College Park-U of MD Metro station to the campus Stamp Student Union. However, the shuttle does not go all the way to the Inn and Conference Center. The walk to the hotel is not far but for travelers with luggage it might be preferable to take a taxi from the Metro station.
Dulles International Airport is 26 miles from downtown Washington in Chantilly, Virginia. It has numerous ground transportation options allowing travelers to get to the University of Maryland.
Taxi service and rental cars are available at all airports.
Train Service
Commuter train service (MARC Train) is available from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). The Penn Line runs multiple times Monday through Friday only. The train does not run on Saturdays and Sundays. Travelers to College Park can take the train to New Carrollton (Metrorail Orange Line) and use Metro to get to College Park. Another option is to take the train to Washington and transfer to the Metro (Red Line) and go to College Park.
