Visit Kim Building Page

The experimental and facilities highlight of Maryland NanoCenter is the new Kim Engineering and Applied Sciences Building, a 160,000 sf structure to open Jan 2005 that brings together a state-of-art clean room for nano- and micro-fabrication with associated laboratories and facilities for materials synthesis, surface and materials characterization, nano science, bioengineering, and exploratory processes.

Kim Engineering Building will house the cross disciplinary Maryland NanoCenter.

Maryland NanoCenter uses space throughout the Kim Building:

  • The FabLab fabrication complex is located mainly on the second floor, with its SubFab on the ground floor below. The FabLab wing of the building is seen on the left of the architect's depiction.
  • The NispLab microscopy facilities are located on the ground floor.
  • Maryland NanoCenter administrative offices are located on the first floor, room 1119.
  • Maryland NanoCenter faculty, staff, and students use offices and meeting rooms throughout the Kim Building.

Layouts of the three floors are shown below, with Maryland NanoCenter activities highlighted.
