Training Sessions

Training is available by appointment throughout the year. Training should only be scheduled once your are prepared to become a regular user. For more information on training, please see the lab policies page.

Courses in Nanotechnology, Microscopy, Characterization, and More

A great way to get exposure to the NISP Lab and learn more about what we do is to enroll for one of the many course that that use the NISP Lab for instruction.

  • ENMA 698L Experimental Methods in Materials Science
  • ENMA 310 Materials Lab I: Structural Characterization
  • ENMA 627 Nanotechnology Characterization
  • BSCI 485 Protozoology
Also look for these courses in development and expected to be offered soon:
  • ENMA 400s Advanced Micro Technology for Nanotechnology
  • ENMA 600s Nanotechnology Characterization Lab

K-12 Education Programs

At the NISP lab we are excited about what we do, and we are eager to share our experiences and promote an interest in science at all levels. We are currently involved with Project Lead the Way, an outreach program designed to introduce students to engineering before entering college.

We are also looking forward to our upcoming ASM Materials Camp for Teachers to be held June 2007 on the UMCP campus. Teachers in the Washington DC area (including Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia) will be invited to participate. The teachers will be trained so that they can incorporate a session on microscopy of materials in their regular science curriculum.

Introduction to Electron Microscopy
