NISPLab Policies

The NISP Lab is open to students, faculty, staff and post doctoral scholars of the University of Maryland as well as outside users from industry and other universities. To begin access, please schedule a consultation with the lab director to determine your needs and the best approach for your research.

Lab Access

In order to utilize the equipment in the NISP Lab you will need to:
  1. Print, fill out and sign one of the following documents: Turn the filled out sheet to a staff member.
  2. Register with the NanoCenter Equipment Scheduler
  3. Send an email to a staff member to request access to reserve time and use specific equipment.

Training

Training is available by appointment throughout the year. Training should only be scheduled once your are prepared to become a regular user. For more information, or to schedule training, please contact the lab director, Dr. Wen-An Chiou, at 301-405-0541 or wachiou@umd.edu.

External users

It is a primary purpose of the NISP lab is to serve the academic community at the University of Maryland and surrounding universities in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. The NanoCenter and the NispLab have significant expertise and facilities to assist or collaborate with outside entities, and interested parties are encouraged to contact the lab director to discuss possibilities.

Here are the hourly rates for equipment in the lab:

The rates shown on the table are hourly rate. This rate effective on October 1, 2007.

(1) Regular UMD rate including four (4) consortium universities and MRI partners.
(2) Usage fees for NonoCenter members (~20% or more discount).

As outlined in our NSF MRI grant (#0619191), our university partners are Howard University, Catholic University, George Washington University, Georgetown University and James Madison.
