Abstract: This talk will try to dispel the arcane of what is behind Nature and its research journals. Who are the editors, how do they evaluate manuscripts and what do they look for, what does the publishing process consist of, and so on. As I am working on the launch of Nature Communications, I will also talk about what are the motivations for launching a new journal and how one goes about doing it in practice.
Stefano Tonzani graduated in chemistry at the University of Perugia, Italy. After a PhD in chemical physics in Boulder, CO, where he studied phenomena involving electronic collisions and intense lasers, and a postdoc in computational nanoscience at Northwestern University, he joined Nature magazine as materials sciences editor. He is now participating in the launch of a new interdisciplinary journal called Nature Communications, for which he is physical sciences editor. This Event is For: Graduate • Faculty • Post-Docs |
